I've always been the creative type. Whether it was graphic design or interior decorating, I like to make things look pleasing to the eye. Some of my earliest memories was crafting with my great grandma. After college, I used that creativity with a camera, and on the computer - creating advertisements, catalogs and web graphics. Then along came the kids and that creativity morphed into creative time management between work, family, sports, horses, and so much more. Until a couple winters ago, during a long stretch of snow days, the kids and I picked up some paints for some creative entertainment. I forgot how much I enjoyed painting, not only the walls and furniture. Over the past few years I have been focusing on my art and painting as much as I can. Van Gogh has always been a favorite, ever since the 1st grade when we painted Starry Night in art class. Now, I thoroughly enjoy all kinds of different styles of painting. Of course, horses and the western lifestyle, are my favorite subjects. I continue to try to hone in on my own talents and learn new tricks and techniques. Stay up to date on all the new pieces by following me on social media!
Northwest Iowa, but I've also spent time in WY, HI and even abroad for a couple of summers - all these places I have been able to work with and around horses, hence all the horse paintings.
Acrylic - mostly because it's to clean up and I can get pretty messy. In order to paint and spend time with the family, sometimes that means painting on the couch during movie night.
Well, it's no secret we have horses and we enjoy the western lifestyle. When my husband and I aren't at our kids' games we like to team rope and go to a few jackpots here and there. It doesn't happen very often, but we try,
I can't really say I have much formal training. When I picked up the paint brushes a couple years ago I spent a lot of time on Pinterest and checking out styles I liked and didn't like and trying to develop my own.
Hmmm, that's a good question. Well, I still feel like I am perfecting my craft (and always will be), but I want to add large scale paintings, even murals to my repertoire. Also, have my own studio/gallery that offered several different styles so the you could enjoy all types of art.
I am inspired by so many styles, but I really like to take a longer look at the more loose style of paintings. I like to see the brush strokes and see how the painter put it all together.
