Painting is my passion and my peace. Whether it's a canvas or even baseboards— painting serves as my stress relief and my form of expression. The simple act of moving a paintbrush across a surface allows me to release all the “things” in life. I’ve lived and worked in the western industry, and naturally, my art reflects the western way of life. Horses are a favorite subject, but I find beauty in many things, and I’m always evolving, searching for my style and niche.
Photography has also played a significant role in my creative journey. I love transforming striking photographs into paintings, capturing the essence of a moment and turning it into a new piece of art. My work is about taking moments from life and turning them into pieces of art.
In contrast to more polished, detailed styles, you can see the brushstrokes and bold shifts in color in my work. I embrace the freedom of imperfection, letting go of the strict details and expectations. My art is a balance between chaos and creativity. I hope it resonates with you as something both joyful and soothing—something that invites your eyes to pause, linger, and get lost in the subtle intricacies of imperfection.
Northwest Iowa, but I've also spent time in WY, HI and even abroad for a couple of summers - all these places I have been able to work with and around horses, hence all the horse paintings.
Acrylic - mostly because it's to clean up and I can get pretty messy. In order to paint and spend time with the family, sometimes that means painting on the couch during movie night.
Well, it's no secret we have horses and we enjoy the western lifestyle. When my husband and I aren't at our kids' games we like to team rope and go to a few jackpots here and there. It doesn't happen very often, but we try,
I can't really say I have much formal training. When I picked up the paint brushes a couple years ago I spent a lot of time on Pinterest and checking out styles I liked and didn't like and trying to develop my own.
Hmmm, that's a good question. Well, I still feel like I am perfecting my craft (and always will be), but I want to add large scale paintings, even murals to my repertoire. Also, have my own studio/gallery that offered several different styles so the you could enjoy all types of art.
I am inspired by so many styles, but I really like to take a longer look at the more loose style of paintings. I like to see the brush strokes and see how the painter put it all together.
